Web Quality factor
This factor is part of Web Quality — the weighted 0..100 score that sits above Web Standards. Its weight depends on what kind of site is being measured. Web Standards items take priority; this factor only enters the score once Web Standards passes.
- Base weight
- 1.0 applied to every site type unless overridden below
- Why this weight
- Title/meta/OG/Twitter/canonical is how the site shows up everywhere it gets shared. Lower for personal sites that don't expect to be discovered.
Per-site-type overrides
| Site type | Weight | Δ vs base |
|---|---|---|
| Personal site | 0.4 | -0.6 |
| Government | 0.7 | -0.3 |
Site types not listed inherit the base weight.
What this means for your business
The headline, blurb, and image that show up when someone posts your site on Facebook, sends it in iMessage, or sees it in Google. If they're missing or wrong, you look unfinished or attract the wrong clicks.
Plain title: How your site appears when shared or in search results
What we measure
These tags tell Google, Facebook, X, and other platforms how to display your site when shared. Without them, you get whatever default the platform decides.
How to improve your score
Set unique `<title>` (50-60 chars), `<meta name="description">` (150-160 chars), Open Graph tags (`og:title`, `og:description`, `og:image`), Twitter cards, and a `<link rel="canonical">` on every page. WordPress: install Yoast or Rank Math.
