Web Quality factor
This factor is part of Web Quality — the weighted 0..100 score that sits above Web Standards. Its weight depends on what kind of site is being measured. Web Standards items take priority; this factor only enters the score once Web Standards passes.
- Base weight
- 0.4 applied to every site type unless overridden below
- Why this weight
- IPv6 — civic infrastructure choice; low immediate user impact.
Per-site-type overrides
| Site type | Weight | Δ vs base |
|---|---|---|
| Personal site | 0.2 | -0.2 |
| Education | 0.6 | +0.2 |
| Government | 0.7 | +0.3 |
Site types not listed inherit the base weight.
What this means for your business
A growing share of phone and home networks now use the newer addressing system. Sites stuck on the old one get a small but real ranking nudge against them and load slower for those visitors.
Plain title: Reachable on the modern internet
What we measure
IPv6 is the modern replacement for IPv4. Sites with IPv6 reach mobile users on IPv6-only networks (common on US carriers) without performance penalties.
How to improve your score
Most CDNs (Cloudflare especially) automatically serve IPv6. If hosting directly, ensure web server binds to IPv6 + AAAA records published.

Scoring
Scoring formulas are versioned with the methodology. The current method (v1.2.0) maps raw measurements to pass, warn, fail. Factor weights determine how much each contributes to the composite — see the methodology index for the full table.
